About Me

I have seven siblings, three sisters and four brothers. I'm the fifth. With all that chaos in the house, I found that diving into a great book was the best way to deal. I published my first book on Kindle and Smashwords. You can find the links above. Contact me: mmcdonald64@gmail.com

My Sadly Neglected Blog

It seems like forever since I've blogged. Between marketing my book, moving to a new house, and school starting, it's been a whirlwind. Also, I realized I do a lot of my blogging at work, and guess what? Yep, I've had vacation time, and a couple of days I was at work, I was taking a class, so I was off-line.

Today is my daughter's first day of school, so I hope that now the school year has begun, we'll all settle into a new routine. Of course, that means dealing with homework. Ack. I hate homework.

As far as writing goes, well, it's been lagging just like my blogging. If I'm lucky, I write once a week. That is so bad. I have a sequel that could be finished by now if I would have written on it every evening. My bad.

You want to know how my sales are going? :-) Steadily increasing. Even though August had some periods where sales would be dead for a day or so, then for no apparent reason, there'd be a bunch at one time. One day, I sold 13! I have no idea why, but it was a fun day. A couple of other days, nothing. Those days? Not so fun. lol

For August, I broke the one hundred book sales in one month. I sold 99 on the U.S. Amazon site, and 1 on the U.K site, so exactly 100 through Amazon. I so wanted my U.S. Amazon total to hit 100 though, so I could see it. hehe.

I'm over 200 total, but it's hard to calculate exactly because I don't have numbers from Barnes and Noble, iBookstore or Sony.  I just know that I sold 4 and B&N because I know who bought them. :-D The same with one at iBookstore. The reviews are trickling in, and I have to say, I couldn't be happier with them.

The new Kindles are shipping now, and in honor of that, someone started a new blog for inexpensive Kindle books.  The Frugal Kindle

So, enough about me. How are all of you doing? Anyone have any luck querying? Getting published? Finished a first draft? Let me know.
  1. Yay! Glad your sales are doing so well!

  1. Good job on those sales!

I hope you find a schedule that works for you now that things are settling down :)

  1. Yay! Congrats on the impressive sales! Keep at it!

  1. Hope you have sttled in after your move, Pleased to know your book is selling well.
I have decided to publish another poetry book later on when I have some spare time to concentrate, at then moment have been visiting my daughter more as my grandson was home from school also am hoping sometime this month to visit my son in Spain.
When my last book was published one had to go through each line with a fine tooth comb for correct spelling and puncuation marks .So in order to get the ball rolling I will do all that first to save time at the publishers.

    Have a good day.
    Yvonne,

  1. Excellent sales numbers, Mary! I'd love to know what you're doing to market and promote. I'm sure I could learn a thing or two as I'm so horrible at marketing.

  1. You HAVE had a lot going on! Must have been awhile since I've been here because everything looks shiny and new. Lie to me and tell me you JUST changed the look this morning...

  1. I was wondering where you got to! That's great news with the sales! :o)

  1. I was wondering where you got to! That's great news with the sales! :o)

  1. Cut yourself some slack - life has been happening to you!

  1. Congrats on the sales of your book. I'm hoping I can soon get the books read that I've bought; books of my blogger friends, yours included. I read chapter one of yours, liked it, but now will have to start again from the beginning! I never did have a very good memory, and it's worse now that I'm older.

As for writing, like you I've been distracted all summer. I worked through the second major revisions of my 70,000+ memoir and sent it to my editor last week.

I've just finished, again, tinkering with my blog and think I really like what I've got now. Now it's time to get serious with both writing and blogging.

Thanks for the link to the frugal kindle. This is the first time I've heard of it.

Now that you're moved in and school has started, I'll look forward to your posts and to hearing about how your writing's progressing.
    Ann

  1. Fantastic on your sales!!! I think this is so awesome to see from a fellow indie. You go, girl! I can't wait to read your book, but there's so many things going on right now. I've read great things about it!

  1. I'm glad things are slowing down, settling in and $$$ on the book. Congrats on all. :)

I'm just totally glad you are sort of back :D
