Since Mark Taylor: Genesis was published a few days ago, I've had a few people pay me the highest compliment I think an author can receive. They had just re-read all of my books. I mean, my books. Who would a thunk it? Certainly not me.They probably didn't even realize it was a compliment, but as an avid reader myself, I know that I only have a few favorite books in my life that I go back and re-read. Let's see...I have read all of the Clan of the Cave Bear books, barring the last one, at least 5 times. The Grapes of Wrath, the same. Morning Glory, by LaVyrle Spencer, gets read about every two years since I first picked it up years ago. Of course, I can't forget all the Little House on the Prairie books. I have been reading those since I was a little girl, and I still love to pick one up and just start reading. Every time I see one at a garage sale, I buy it.
There are plenty of books I loved that I don't plan on re-reading,like The Hunger Games trilogy, or The Help. I read them. I loved them. I recommended them. And then I moved on. I don't know what the difference is between one I enjoyed and must re-read, and one that I also enjoyed but feel done with.
So, what about you? Are you a re-reader of favorite books? Or once they'vebeen read, do they get set aside

I rarely reread a book, except for a couple by Terry Brooks. I did reread the LOTR trilogy before the movies came out just so I'd remember the story.
Good point. I have re-read some books before going to see the movie version.
I reread books all the time. Sometimes not even because I 'loved' it so much as I was thinking about something in the book and wanted to refresh my memory. It is a problem because it keeps me from reading new books, LOL! Now you went and reminded me about the Clan of the Cave Bear. I will probably need to go read it again for the 10th time.
I am a avid reader also but rarely re read book! 2 books I have re read. the secret garden, which I only read 2 times and about 4 year apart, and the Hunger Games. as I am reading Genises today I told myself I was fou g to read the rest of your books again for the 2nd time! if you knew me you would realize this is a VERY big deal! Love the books, recommend them all the time.
New Girl-You love the CotCB books too? I have been reading them since the early 80s. I wasn't crazy about the fifth book, and I bought the sixth, but never finished it.
Jennifer--I'm honored! :-) Thank you so much!
